Rage Bait vs. Experiential Marketing
Share
Brands using experiential marketing outperform digital-only campaigns by 2–5x in emotional connection scores (Forrester CX Index, 2024).
There is so much written about "rage bait" as a new marketing trend. The focus is always the rationale of standing out at all costs. An emotional connection, even anger, is better than nothing. The bigger question should be why it’s even a consideration. The reality is the challenge of breaking through accelerated, mind-numbing media clutter driven by better algorithms and over-saturated feeds. At its core, the objective is an emotional response. How about letting customers touch, feel, taste, and interact with your brand on a personal level? Experiential marketing will continue to grow as we all realize we can’t simply win a war of digital attrition. Rage bait is a desperate attempt at that. Experiential marketing is the way forward.
